Who we are

About the pont

The Pont is situated 4kms from Port St Johns, and is located on the original site of the pont used to cross the Umzimvubu River many moons ago.

All the rustic chalets are built on frames from the remnants of the original pont. The property overlooks the mighty Umzimvubu River and there is a jetty and a slipway available for our guests to use to launch their boats.

The property is quite large and accommodates  camping, a rustic chalet experience or chalets with en-suite facilities.

Our spacious camp sites are all equipped with electrical points.  Our rustic units range from 2 sleepers to 5 sleepers, sharing a communal ablution and very popular among our over- nighters. Our chalets are en-suite and sleep 4 to 5 people. And for the larger family or group of friends traveling together, we have Aquarium, 3 individual log cabins which cater 4 people per cabin with a communal kitchen and bathroom.

Things to do

During the fishing seasons, The Pont is a fisherman’s paradise with the river producing amazing fish species and during the later months, larger species are available.

For our diving enthusiast guests, there are charters in the area that go out to sea during the sardine seasons.

For bird watchers, 75 different species of birds have been identified including the fish eagle and the knysna lourie.

There are multiple hiking trials to view points, through forests and along the coastline.
